March 2026 Pickleball Roundup

Covering Ontario, Alberta, BC, and Atlantic Canada

Official Court Supplier for Pickleball Ontario at CourtX Oakville - Season 4 with Toronto United Pickleball Club branding

March marks a transformative moment for Canadian pickleball. Two historic firsts have reshaped how the world views this sport. Nike signed 18-year-old Anna Leigh Waters as its first-ever pickleball athlete, placing the sport on the same commercial footing as tennis and golf. Days later, Major League Pickleball recorded its biggest draft moment yet when the St. Louis Shock secured Anna Bright for a record 1.23 million dollars.

These aren't isolated business moments. They signal that pickleball has arrived. The infrastructure being built right now, the courts, the facilities, the competitive circuits, is what makes all of it possible. Across Ontario, Atlantic Canada, Alberta, and British Columbia, March delivers landmark tournaments and activities that showcase Canadian pickleball's unprecedented momentum. Here's what's happening on courts from coast to coast this month.

Two Firsts That Changed the Conversation

Nike's Historic Partnership with Anna Leigh Waters

The 18-year-old phenom became the first pickleball athlete ever to sign with Nike. Not a paddle deal. Not local sponsorship. Nike. The Swoosh. Waters now has a head-to-toe apparel and footwear deal that places her in the company of Michael Jordan (1984 basketball partnership) and Tiger Woods (1996 golf partnership). Nike doesn't invest in emerging sports out of charity. When the world's largest sports apparel company commits to pickleball, it's a statement about where the sport is headed.

Major League Pickleball Draft Record: 1.23 Million

On February 27, the MLP Draft reached a new peak. The St. Louis Shock secured Anna Bright with the highest price tag in league history. Three teams bid for her talent. The bids climbed past a million dollars. Bright livestreamed the moment on her YouTube channel. "I am going to feel pressure to play like GOD," she posted as the numbers climbed. Record draft prices don't happen in leagues nobody takes seriously. This is the sound of professional pickleball becoming real.

Why it matters for Canadian pickleball: These moments demonstrate global legitimacy. When Nike invests, when draft prices break records, sponsors, investors, and facility partners take notice. The courts being built across Canada this year, from Ontario to Atlantic Canada to Alberta to British Columbia, are being built into a sport that's no longer trying to prove itself.
