May 2026 Pickleball Roundup

Professional pickleball players competing indoors during a Canadian pickleball tournament at Smash Pickleball

  • Professional pickleball opens its Canadian season in Toronto with over 500 fans expected each day.
  • Nova Scotia sets a provincial registration record with 575 players at the Bedford Provincials.

CNPL Season 4 Kickoff at The Picklr in Etobicoke

Season four of the Canadian National Pickleball League opens May 9 and 10 at The Picklr Toronto West in Etobicoke, and by every measure it's the biggest professional pickleball event this city has seen. Toronto United is hosting. All eight franchises are in the building. Over 500 fans are expected each day, and the club sold 250 early-bird tickets in under 10 days.

For a league in its fourth year, those numbers say something. They say the community that has been showing up game after game, season after season, is real, and it keeps growing.

Total Sport Solutions has been with Toronto United since day one. Four consecutive years through the championship win in year one, the tough stretch in year two, and the finals run in year three. We will be courtside again in season four.

"Total Sport Solutions has been with us since day one, through the highs of winning in year one to the lows of year two and back to the finals in year three. Not many brands can say that. We want to win for them."

Ricky Liorti, Owner and GM, Toronto United

What keeps us invested isn't just the scoreboard. Toronto United has introduced more than 250 people to pickleball through free community activations at Cadillac Fairview properties across the city. Getting into malls, putting paddles in kids' hands. That's the part of this partnership that matters most.

Season four also marks the first time the league travels to the Maritimes, with a regular season split scheduled for Stratford, Prince Edward Island. The league wraps in Vancouver at the end of August, with championship finals to follow in September. Eight teams. A national circuit. A sport that keeps filling rooms it didn't use to know existed.

The Quinte Pickleball Association's Belleville Open runs across two venues over three days: outdoor courts at Sonny Belch Park on Friday and Saturday, then indoors at Pickleplex Belleville on Sunday. Atlantic Canada: Nova Scotia Brings the Numbers

2026 Nova Scotia Provincial Pickleball Championships

May 21 to 24 | Atlantic Tennis Centre, Bedford, NS

575 players registered. Registration closed. That's where the 2026 Nova Scotia Provincials sit heading into race week.

For context, last year's edition drew 508 players. The growth is real, and Atlantic Canadian pickleball is proving it doesn't need anyone to come in from outside and build the buzz. The community is doing it themselves.

The Atlantic Tennis Centre in Bedford hosts four days of Pickleball Canada-sanctioned competition across all age and skill brackets, with a team competition component and every participant guaranteed four matches. If you want to understand where the sport is heading in the Maritimes, this is the event to watch.
